Background of Program

Bachelor of Nursing Science (Honours) [BNSc (Hons)] programme is a 4-years home-grown programme offered by University College MAIWP International (UCMI), Kuala Lumpur. The structure of the curriculum was guided by the Standard and Guidelines of the Malaysian Nursing Board (MNB). The total graduating number of credits for the Bachelor of Nursing Science (Honours) is 132. Credit Exemption up to 50% are allowed.

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing is accredited by the Malaysian Qualification Agency Ministry of Education Malaysia. Graduates are eligible to take the Nursing Board Malaysia Licensure Examination for registered Nurses offered by the MNB upon the completion of the program.

The aims of programme for BNSc (Hons) at UCMI is preparing and grooming future Nurses, focuses on delivery of quality education towards holistic patient care to meet the needs of the community and to achieve the blessings of the Almighty.

Clinical Placement will be posted to the designated hospitals and clinics under the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Defence with the exposure to the various inspiring career prospects such as industry, hospital, community, research, government agencies and academia throughout 4 years of study at UCMI.

Admission Requirements

For Malaysian candidates

  1. Either one (1) of the following below:
  • Pass Sijil Tinggi Pesekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or *EQUIVALENT with minimum CGPA 2.5; or *equivalent
  • Pass ‘A’ Level minimum Grade C in three (3) other subjects;
  • Pass Matriculation/Foundation with minimum CGPA 2.5;
  • Pass any Diploma with minimum CGPA 2.5 (No credit transfer)Equivalent MQF Level 4.
  • Pass Diploma in Nursing from the organized institution by MNB with minimum two (2) years clinical working experience.

(Credit transfer allowed).

AND

 All candidates who possess STPM, ‘A’ Level, and Matriculation/Foundation and pass any Diploma except Diploma in Nursing MUST possess:

Either one (1) of the credit below;

  • Science/Biology/Chemistry/Physics/Applied Science at SPM or its equivalent.

AND

  • Credit in Mathematics (Elementary or Additional or Modern) at SPM or its equivalent

AND

  • MUET with minimum of Band 3 / IELTS with a minimum of 5.5 / TOEFL with a minimum score of 515/215/80/ Credit in English SPM

For International candidates

  1. Either one (1) of the following below:
  • Pass Sijil Tinggi Pesekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or *EQUIVALENT with minimum CGPA 2.5;
  • Pass ‘A’ Level minimum Grade C in three (3) other subjects;
  • Pass Foundation with minimum CGPA 2.5;
  • Pass any Diploma with minimum CGPA 2.5 (No credit transfer)Equivalent MQF Level 4.
  • Pass Diploma in Nursing and registered with the Nursing Council of the country of origin.
  • Minimum two (2) years clinical working experience.

(Credit transfer allowed).

AND

 All candidates who possess STPM, ‘A’ Level, and Foundation and pass any Diploma except Diploma in Nursing MUST possess:

 

Either one (1) of the credit below (minimum Grade C);

  • General science or
  • Biology or
  • Chemistry or
  • Physics or
  • Applied Science at SPM or its equivalent

  • Credit in Mathematics (Elementary or Additional or Modern) at SPM or its equivalent

  • IELTS with a minimum of 5.5 / TOEFL with a minimum score of 515/215/80.
