Background of Program

Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Technology (Honours) program has been approved by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and aims to equip students with basic knowledge in scientific disciplines. The program focuses on technical and pharmaceutical applications such as the manufacture of medicines, creams, tablets and others in the health industry, halal manufacturing, cosmetics, health products and supplements.

The program also aims to produce more technologists in the field of pharmaceuticals and at the same time contribute to the development of pharmaceutical industry and its contemporaries. In addition, the program also opens up career paths in the areas of drug discovery and development, standards assessment in quality control as well as marketing of pharmaceutical products.

Furthermore, the study teaching modules are self -developed by UCMI instructors who have extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Among the courses offered in the program include pharmacology, pharmaceutical technology, pharmaceutical medical chemistry, pharmaceutical analysis, pharmaceutical engineering, pharmaceutical biotechnology, physical pharmacy and drug delivery systems.

Graduates of the Diploma in Pharmacy also have the opportunity to obtain credit exemption for up to one semester according to the prescribed qualifications.

Graduates who demonstrate integrity whilst upholding ethical values and possess wide range of scientific skills in pharmaceutical technology and solving related issues.

Graduates who are motivated towards lifelong learning and managerial and entrepreneurial skills in the fields of pharmaceutical technology.

Admission Requirements

Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) / Matriculation / A-Level / Pre-University/Foundation with a minimum of Grade C (GPA 2.33) in any two (2) subjects, or its equivalent AND Possess SPM with three (3) credits In Mathematics, one science subject and one any other subject, or its equivalent. ;

OR

Diploma (MQF Level 4) in a related field 2.50 CGPA; CGPA below 2.50 may be supported by at least two (2) years (24 months) working experience in a relevant field;

OR

Other qualifications recognized as equivalent by the Government of Malaysia.

OR

Any program with equivalent qualifications as accepted by the University Senate.
