Background of Program

Programme Diploma in Retail Management (TVET) provided by UCMI to students with a work-based learning approach (WBL). The studies will combine theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience to prepare students for careers in the retail industry. The program is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of retail management, including sales, marketing, customer service, merchandising, inventory management, and store operations. The collaboration of UCMI and retail industry will open the opportunity to the students to apply the knowledge gained in the classroom to real world retail setting, eventually allowing the students to develop practical skills and gain industry specific experience.  Students’ assessment by a combination of practical evaluations, workplace assessment, assignments and examinations. This program will prepare students for the dynamic and competitive field of retail management.

Program Educational Objectives (PEO)

PEO     Description
PEO 1
Teach students the knowledge and skills to integrate retail concepts across functional areas.
PEO 2
Develop students with skills and human relations skills to enable students to translate knowledge into action.
PEO 3
Inculcate students with the critical analysis and communication skills that enable students to effectively present views, either in writing or through oral presentations in order to make a decision.
PEO 4
Encourage students to prepare for life-long learning for professional, career dan personal development.

Demonstrate relevant knowledge and appraise retail problems and responding to change and the consideration of the future of retail industry development and the environment in which they operate.
PLO 2
Identify, interpret, apply and evaluate the retail concepts, theories and/or operational principles within the well-defined context of a subject and work.
PLO 3
Evaluate and appraise the importance of global business strategies on retail management and the principles of lifelong learning in their academic and career development.
PLO 4
Demonstrate social skills, teamwork and responsibility while exercising corporate social responsibility and exhibit communication skills in a variety of domains, including writing, speaking, listening and reading, while respecting the impact of technology on effective communication.

Use basic levels of numerical abilities and information/digital technologies to support work and studies.
