Background of Program

Bachelor of Biomedical Science at University College of MAIWP International offers a broad foundation to the major topics of great scientific discovery; medical breakthrough and innovation with the application on biology-based science for medical use through research, health monitoring or treatment. You will embark into interdisciplinary course structure throughout a degree programme that reflects your individual scientific strengths and interests by Lectures and Industrial Professionals.

 

This course provides students with stimulating education designed in modern molecular, cellular, medical sciences and biology systems together with extensive laboratory platforms for skill advancement. As the course progresses, you are implemented emphatically with scientific research by obtain experience of laboratory research in the later stages at any possible areas for investigation. Subsequently, wide-ranging disciplines are integrated in the course with entrepreneurship or a modern language and industrial/professional experience in order to enhance student employability.

Program Learning Objective (PLO)

PLO     Description
PLO 1
To describe, interpret, analyze and validate findings in clinical laboratory by applying fundamental and advanced knowledge in medical sciences
PLO 2
To perform and supervise clinical laboratory procedures competently as well as to evaluate and implement new laboratory methodologies and instrumentations while adhering to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
PLO 3
To collaborate with other healthcare professionals with good interpersonal, leadership, social and teamwork skills
PLO 4
To demonstrate sensitivities and responsibilities towards the community and environment by adhering to the legal, ethical principles and the professional code of conduct in clinical laboratory

To demonstrate effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills as a leader and as a team player while conducting, analyzing and delivering research findings

Admission Requirements

Obtained MUET Band 3

AND

Pass Matriculation/Pre-University/STPM programme or equivalent qualification with minimum GPA 2.33 in TWO of the following subjects: 

  • Biology 
  • Physics/Mathematics 
  • Chemistry 

OR

A-Level programme or equivalent qualification with minimum Grade D in TWO of the following subjects: 

  • Biology 
  • Physics/Mathematics 
  • Chemistry 

OR

Recognised Diploma with minimum CGPA of 2.75 in related field; 

OR

Recognised Diploma with CGPA less than 2.75 in related field and a minimum of 3 years (36 months) working experience in the related field.

  • This programme serves as an alternative pathway to pursue Postgraduate Study – Master of Health Science (in UCMI or any accredited IPTs), Master of Public Health, Master of Biomedical Science, Master of Medical Science, or Master in any fields of Health Science-related disciplines in any accredited IPT or Universities outside Malaysia.
